my statement:

This documentary project is very special to me, as I have known both Christina and Jeff Richardson for basically my entire life. I asked if I could have a job at Paradise Acres the age of fourteen and they accepted, which was back in 2007. I had kept that same job ever since then. The whole point of me documenting, is to show that there was an end that leads to a new beginning and that there was a middle that will be completely unforgettable.

It all started twelve years ago with the opening of their kennel called Paradise Acres Boarding. While Jeff was overseas with the Navy, Christina had decided to start up a new business. She had realized that she had always had a great passion for caring for animals, and that she had always wanted to own her own kennel, so she went after her dream. Not long after she bought the business, Jeff had returned home and began to help with the construction…….and that’s how it all began.

Towards the end of 2011, the dream for owning a kennel started to drift away. It was a hard decision, but they decided to put the kennel up on the market for sale. Also, financially, they were not making enough money to make a profit; it was the best decision at that point, to close. After many attempts to sell, and keeping it on the market for over a year, they had time to think about turning it into their forever home. They drew up some floor plans, put up their own house on the market, and the plans became real.  The closing process was underway.

I am excited to see and document this entire development:  From when the animals had a place to board while parents go on vacation, packing everything up, the demolition, to the placement of new walls and doors…This project will continue on for another few months, until the construction of their new home is completely finished.
